Willie Mae Thompson

Willie Mae Smith Thompson, 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore.  Born in Greenwood Springs on February 11, 1942, she was a daughter to Dave and Velma Cantrell Smith.  She worked for many years in the garment industry as a seamstress and she was the widow of Grady Ray Thompson.  Willie Mae lived life to the fullest and she enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and sewing.  She especially loved her family and her dog, Chester.  

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. P.J. Mortensen and Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating.  

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Cantrell (Troy Lee) of Hamilton and Kathy Sutton (Charles) of Amory; one sister, Donna Thompson of Hamilton, AL; son-in-law, Ronnie Smith; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Grady Ray Thompson; one son, Timothy Michael Thompson; daughter, Elizabeth Smith; and grandson, David Michael Cantrell.

Pallbearers will be Demarcus Hampton, Justin Jones, Billie Jones, Jr., Billie Jones, Sr., Michael Lofton, and Jeremy Adams.

A special thank you is extended to Dr. Bill and Mrs. Debra Rogers along with the staff of North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore, Center Well Home Health, many at Three Rivers, and to Telisha Doss with Leuzarah Robinson Healthcare Service for the excellent care given.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 11:30 at the funeral home on Saturday.
