William Cleveland Markham, 74, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. W.C. was born on March 22, 1944 in Lamar County to Benny Hilton and Ruby Lee Vann Markham. He attended school in Splunge and Smithville and he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Living in the Vina and Hodges, Alabama area, he was a jack of all trades, a master carpenter, and worked most of his life in construction.
He is survived by his sisters, Audine Puckett (Bobby) of Detroit, AL, Bobbie Grace Reeves of West Point, Maye Parker of Fulton, Hilda Glazer of Saltillo, Nell Hurley of the Parham Community, Jimmy Hurley of New Mexico, Brandy Hurley, and Denise Hurley; brothers, Wayne Markham (Barbara) of the Splunge Community, James Dwight Markham of Russellville, and Carl Lynn Markham of Hamilton, AL; several grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian Green Markham; daughters, Sheila Markham and Sharon Roebuck; and by sisters, Barbara Stanford and Norma Holloway.
