W.D. Holcomb, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Riverplace Nursing Center in Amory.  He was born on November 1, 1942 in Itawamba County to Woodrow Wilson and Ruby Johnson Holcomb.  WD grew up in Smithville and later earned an electrical degree from Itawamba Junior College.  He married the former Joyce Griffin on July 3, 1961 and for many years, he worked in maintenance for ITT Engineered Valves before retiring in 1998.  Following retirement, he entered the used car business.  Later, he accomplished a lifelong ambition learning to drive an 18 wheeler.  WD was never one to stay still and he was a jack of all trades.  He liked to fish, hunt, camp, and tinker with old cars.  With his musical inclination, he often sang with his brother and in the church choir at Smithville Baptist Church where he was a devoted member.
