Van Childers, 65, passed away at Oak Tree Manor Assisted Living on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Van was born in Amory on April 11, 1959 to the late James Vanvard Childers, Sr. and Bonnie Laney Childers. He was a graduate of Amory High School and married Teresa Barnes on July 18, 1996. Van was a master diesel mechanic and for over 40 years he owned and operated Childers Industries where he worked on countless trucks and trailers. He loved hard work and even after a long day in the shop, he would often come home and climb on a dozer or tractor and bush hog to work on his place. To Van, being outdoors on a piece of heavy equipment, working on his land was never a burdensome task as it was his life and joy. He also enjoyed old cars, especially his 1949 Ford Punisher, watching westerns and fishing. His greatest accomplishment and joy in life was spending quality time with his family. He loved being a husband, dad and grand dad. Van was a member of Central Grove Baptist Church.
Van is survived by his wife of 28 years, Teresa Ann Childers, Wren; daughters, Savannah Paige Childers Vega (Victor), Wren, Lana Jade Hester (Shane), Baldwyn; Jessica Nannette Gillentine (Joel), Tupelo; sons, Trey Childers (Latisha), Belden and Dalton Childers (Audrey), Aberdeen; brother, Joey Childers, Wren; sisters, Pam Wilbanks, Wren and Sandi Chism (Tim), Wren; grandchildren, Cayla Childers, Breana Childers, Logan Hester, Abbi Hester, Trae Lowry, Sarah Flurry, Katie Burroughs, Dianna Lowry and Will Lowry; great grandchildren, Paxton Lowry, Bodie Burroughs, Stella Flurry, Stetson Baggett and Cora Lowry; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
