Troy McCullar

August 6, 1957 — December 10, 2023

Amory

Troy Gene McCullar, 66, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at his residence.  Troy was born in Amory on August 6, 1957 to the late Marlin and Dorothy Johnson McCullar.  He grew up in Bigbee Bottom and attended Amory School.  Troy married Tracy Smith on April 13, 1979.  Troy and Tracy enjoyed a wonderful marriage until her passing in 2020.  When you think of Troy, there are two things that come to mind instantly, gravel pits and motorcycles.  Troy’s entire working career was spent working in the gravel pits in Bigbee.  Troy pumped and loaded millions of cubic yards or rock and sand throughout his time in the pits.  Troy knew every truck driver by name and considered each one his friend.  Troy also had a passion for motorcycles and an accident in 1975 nearly cost his life, putting him in ICU for 3 months.  Against all odds, Troy learned to walk again, talk and eat.  He knew that God had a plan and purpose for his life after that.  Troy was a faithful member of several area Baptist churches, last being Faith Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dominos, visiting with his buddies, Lowell Dulaney and Larry Sloan and he especially enjoyed a good cup of coffee.  He and Tracy enjoyed traveling with Tommy and Glenda Wright.  More than anything, he loved, adored and cherished his wife, children, grand children and new great grandson.

Troy is survived by his daughter, Stacy Welch (Michael) of Amory; son, Marlin McCullar (Charlotte) of Amory; sisters, Wanda Griggs (Lee) of Amory and Teresa McCormick (Doug) of Amory; grandchildren, Dylan Welch (Savannah), Andi Provins (Drew), Adam Welch, Katie Brook McCullar and Drew McCullar; great grandson, Bry Provins; aunt, Carolyn Hall, Nettleton; uncle, Charles Johnson (Jo), Tupelo; nephew, Ronnie Griggs; great nephews, Clayton Griggs and Mikah Griggs; great niece, Taylor McCormick; great-great niece, Brooklyn Gray.

In addition to his parents and wife, Tracy, Troy is preceded in death by his niece, Marcia Griggs McCormick and a nephew, Sammy Jo Mitchell.
