Monroe and Lowndes counties lost a treasured resident on July 2, 2024 when Roy Lee Lindsey, 79, left this life to begin his life with his Savior. Roy Lee was born on October 24, 1944 to James Shelby Lindsey and Retha Mae Ross Lindsey. He attended Amory High School and after marrying his sweetheart, Phyllis Ausborn on May 14, 1965, he enlisted in the Mississippi National Guard. He and Phyllis lived in Smithville, Caledonia, and retired to their lovely home on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Becker. Roy Lee worked for Monroe County Electric Power Association as a lineman and service man for almost 30 years and he was a board member of MCEPA for multiple terms. While living in Caledonia, he served two terms as alderman and was a businessman, owning and operating Caledonia Mini Storage. However, it wasn’t all work for Roy Lee. He also found time for the things he loved to do such as gardening. There was always a community competition to have the biggest and best tomatoes. Fishing, hunting, riding his golf cart and visiting with his neighbors on Sunset Point were highlights of his life. Roy Lee took great pride in his yard and was a person who loved to make things such as his tractor, boat, and lawn mower run smoothly. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roy Lee was a member of the Amory congregation of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Roy Lee will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with ministers, Phillip Hathcock, Jonathan Godsey, and Leslie Grant officiating. Private interment will be at New Hope Cemetery.
