Amory- Roger Allen Wigginton, 71, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Born March 19, 1944 in Tishomingo, MS he was a son of the late Prentiss Uzeal and Myrtle Rogers Wigginton. He married Carolyn Monaghan March 9, 1965.
Roger was a graduate of Amory High School and furthered his education at Ole Miss receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He grew up in the Church of God, honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, and retired from AT&T with 35 years of dedicated service. Making many friends along life’s way that enjoyed spending time with, he cherished his family who stayed by his side. He also enjoyed reading extensively, watching birds and growing his favorite flower, the caladium.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Carolyn Wigginton, Amory; son, Brian Wigginton; granddaughter, Alison Clayton (Kevin), New Albany; grandson, Brandon Scott Wigginton, Starkville; sister, Kathy McCool (Jimmy), Smithville; brothers, Danny Wigginton (Linda), Fulton and Randall Wigginton (Beverly), Smithville; sister in laws, Sue Wigginton and Phyllis Wigginton both of Smithville, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Alan Wigginton; brothers, Prentiss and Jimmy Wigginton; nephews, Kevin and Adam Wigginton.
A Funeral Service will be at 2 pm, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service from nuun until 1:45 PM.
