Rhea Jeffreys Collins age 88, surrounded by her family, went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2018 in Amory, MS. She was born August 11, 1930 in Marion County, AL to the late John Melton Jeffreys and Icie May Cantrell Jeffreys. She married Elmer Leonard Collins, Jr. of Calhoun County, MS on October 1, 1947. She and Elmer were blessed with nine children. She loved wrestling and enjoyed taking many of her grandchildren to area wrestling events. She was an amazing cook and owned her own cafe for several years in Guntown, MS. She was known for her witty sense of humor and was a talented seamstress.
Funeral services for Mrs. Collins will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Minister Marshall Eubanks officiating. A Committal Service at 2 p.m. will follow in the Concord Cemetery in Bruce.
She is survived by eight children, Johnny Collins (Kathi) of Hamilton, MS, Diane Jernigan of Guntown, MS, Janis Weaver of Amory, MS, Gary ‘Chat’ Collins (Sherry) of Amory, MS, Vicki Walters (Terry) of Aberdeen, MS, Freddy Collins of Guntown, MS., Angie Collins of Auburn, MS, and Elmer Collins, III (Debbie Hendrix) of Tupelo, MS. Her 16 grandchildren include Johnny Wayne Collins (Robyn), Chris Collins, Mike Collins, Larry Jernigan (Michele), Suzanne Lesley, Miranda Hamilton (Billy), Jay Weaver (Kim), Cal Weaver, Clint Collins, Tara Wren (Noah), Shelley Scott (Zach), Kimberly Collins, LeSha Gullet, Jacque Collins, Alex Collins, and Robert Collins. She had 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sisters Avis Gosa (Coy) of Amory, MS and Weda Stanford of Germantown, TN.
She was preceded in death by brothers Victor Jeffreys, Connie Jeffreys, Lonnie Jeffreys, and sisters, twin Faye Jeffreys, Eloise and Louise Jeffreys and Mildred Hester, her husband Elmer Collins, Jr. and son, Kenneth Collins.
Pallbearers will be Jay Weaver, Cal Weaver, Clint Collins, Alex Collins, Larry Jernigan, Billy Hamilton, Noah Wren, Zach Scott, Keller Wren, and Triston Chism.
Visitation will be on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service.
