Reggie Long Jones, 82, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the NMMC- Gilmore in Amory. Reggie was born on December 31, 1940 in the Bethlehem Community to the late Cooper and Latchie Hathcock Jones. He married Julia Ann Rye. Reggie retired from a long career at Georgia Gulf in Aberdeen. He enjoyed playing checkers, dominoes and gardening. He also enjoyed restoring houses and trailers and watching football and baseball, especially Ole Miss. Anyone that knew Reggie knew he was a man with a big smile and a loving, generous and kind heart. He was the most loving, kind, patient and forgiving father to not only his biological children but to all that he knew and loved. Reggie's generosity and kindness was known throughout the community that he loved and called home. He also cared for many stray dogs throught the years by offering them a home but his dog, ole Bud, had his heart. Reggie attended the Amory First Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years., Julia Ann Jones; daughters, Rebecca Gray (Stewart), Jeannie Flippo (Chuck) and Jada McMellon (Philip) all of the Bethlehem Community; son, Dustin Lynn Jones; daughter in law, Becky Jones; grandchildren, Kayla "KitKat"Jones (Josh), Dalton McMellon (Billie Claire), Landon McMellon, Macie Flippo, Emily Jones, Nathan Jones, Tyler Jones, Hayden Jones and Lindsey Reed; great grandchildren, Preston Moreland, Bryton Moreland, Adon Moreland, Paisley Taylor, Sunnie Jo Taylor, Dalen Jones and Tacker Wayne McMellon; granddaughter in law, Madison Taylor; nephews, Stephen Pierce, Ronald Jones (Kathy), Jack Jones, Glenn Jones and David Jones; special son, Darnell Dobbs and a special friend, Timmy Logan.
In addition to his parents, Reggie is preceded in death by his son, Reggie Jones, Jr., grandsons, Cody Taylor and Dustin Jones, Jr.; granddaughter, Madison Flippo; sister, Vernie Gilliand Hoskins; brothers, Gravis Jones, Artis "Red" Jones, L.C. Jones and Burley Gilliand; special friends Odene and PA; 2 of man's best friends, Daisy and Duke.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Donald Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Philip McMellon, Chuck Flippo, Stewart Gray, Ronald Jones, Jack Jones and Glenn Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Logan, Dalton McMellon and Landon McMellon.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Tuesday from 2 PM until 3:45PM.
