Lillian “Polly” VanOrnam, 66, died on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at her home. Born December 13, 1948, she was a daughter of Arthur L. and Katherine Burns House. Before her retirement, she worked for Amory Garment Company and she was a member of the Athens Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and watching movies. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Athens Baptist Church. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is assisting the family.
Survivors include one son, James Owen (Jessica) of Athens; one daughter, Rebecca Powell (Benji) of Lackey; 2 sisters, Kay Thompson (Scott) of Hatley and Lisa McCain (Bobby) of Athens; 5 grandchildren, Shae Davis (Clayton), Matthew Powell, Dixie Owen, James Owen, Jr., and Georgia Owen; 2 great grandchildren, Brayden Powell and Kelsey Tucker; nieces and nephews, Hannah Thompson, Trey McCain, Sarah Brown, Jesse McCain, Rachel McCain, Laura McCain, Margaret McCain, and Mary McCain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Artie House; and a son, James Harvey Owen, Jr.
