Amory- Pelbia “Jean” Pickle, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late Richard and Mazzie Rush Hill in Guntown, MS on November 16, 1939. As a child, she grew up and attended school in Chicago, IL. She later moved to Memphis and eventually to Amory where she was a seamstress in the area garment and furniture industry, later retiring as a caregiver and sitter to many, many people. She married Wayne Pickle on May 25, 1967. Extremely talented with her hands, Jean attended a Bob Ross painting school in Florida, and was an art instructor at Cricket’s in Amory, teaching the joy of painting to many people. Never passing up an opportunity to go fishing, Jean knew every good place around to fish. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. An excellent cook, never using a recipe, Jean loved cooking meals during the holidays. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wayne Pickle, Amory; daughter, Carylon Motes, Amory; sons, Mike Steele (Diane), Amory and John Steele (Kim), Amory; sister, Helen Pontiff (Michael), LA; brother, Jason Hill (Michelle), WI; grandchildren, Nathan Steele, Jamie Brannon, Jessica Lamb, Chris Steele, Kelsey George, Heather Motes, and John Michael Motes; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her brothers John and Carl Hill.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Waycaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Steele, Nathan Steele, John Michael Motes, Josh George, Curtis Hilt and Dale Sorrells.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday from noon until 1:45 PM.
