John Paul Morrow, known to many as “Mr. Pete,” 83, passed away from this life on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Meadows in Fulton. Paul was born on February 5, 1942 in Itawamba County to Coy and Jewell Umfress Morrow. He graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School and married the former Betty Stegall on February 28, 1959. Over the years, he was employed by JESCO, a heavy equipment operator with Parham Trucking, and worked on the waterway before joining Chemdall and BASF. Following his retirement, Paul spent a lot of time on the family land in Bull Mountain bottom where he tended to the land whether bushhogging, working on the roads, or planting green fields. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He looked forward to the spring each year to get the garden ready, and he could grow exceptional tomatoes. A gentle soul, he had a strong work ethic, and he was a member of New Salem Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Zack Cox officiating. Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery.
