Michael Langford

Michael Gene Langford, 72, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Diversicare Nursing Facility ion Amory. He was born August 30, 1949 in Amory to the late Woodrow Wilson Langford and Mary Ruth Gardner Langford. Michael graduated from Vigor High School in Mobile, Alabama. After graduation, Michael joined the Merchant Marines, sailing the Pacific Ocean. His favorite place was the Philippines, and he took great pride in delivering goods and supplies the U.S. military bases abroad. He married Joyce Newman and they had 2 daughters, Layla Marie and Kelly Renee. He worked as a supervisor at Conoco until a stroke forced him into retirement. He retired on they family land in Bigbee and enjoyed every minute of it. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking yearly vacations in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

He is survived by his daughters, Layla Marie Darden, Tupelo and Kelly Renee Bauer (Fred), Mobile, Alabama; sister, Susan Dianne Langford, Amory; grandchildren, Zoe Darden and Tanner Fears; nephew, David Thames, TN and many friends throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Thames and an aunt, Elsie Mae Chism.

A private family service will be held later in the Amory Historical Society Cemetery under the direction of Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home.
