Melody Gray

Melody Lee Guin Gray, 47, passed into eternal life on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from her home in Becker. Born in Tupelo on July 15, 1977, Melody was one of the daughters of Larry D. and Diane Carruthers Guin. She grew up in Mantachie, and was a 1995 graduate of Mantachie High School, then married Keith Gray on July 16, 1999. The simple things in life were the most important to her, either reading, enjoying the quietness of the back porch, or visiting with family and friends. Melody gave her best to all that she knew and was deeply loved by all in return. Faced with difficult circumstances, her positive attitude never wavered even on the worst of days. She displayed a smile that gave encouragement and inspiration to all who crossed her path, never complaining. Her family was her strength and loved them fiercely. She enjoyed shopping and taking beach trips. Melody was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Waycaster and Bro. Gunnar Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery.

In addition to her husband of nearly 26 years, Keith Gray, she is survived by one son, Jennings Gray, Amory; her daughter, Saige Gray, Amory; one sister, Stephanie Guin, Saltillo; brother-in-law, Kevin Gray (Donna); nephews, Reid Kitchens, Gunnar Gray (Shannon), Garrett Gray (Clara), Gannon Gray (Anna); and niece, Gracie Gill (Andrew); her special cousin, Greta Bourbeau; special aunts, Billie Godfrey, Linda Carruthers, Annette Mitchell, and Shelia Hogue; and close friends, Sylvia, Misty, and Melissa.

She was preceded in death by her father; her mother-in-law, Denna Thornton; grandparents, Jessie Baggett, Hunter Carruthers, and Belden and Maxine Guin.

A special thanks is extended to the Gentiva Hospice Team, Shelly, Niki, Lashonda, Jacob, and, Karen for their care.

Pallbearers will be Gunnar Gray, Garrett Gray, Gannon Gray, Mark Guin, Gene Godfrey, Charles Carruthers, and Bobby Carruthers.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
