Willie Mae Gilmore Ritter, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at her home. She was born on May 1, 1931 in Monroe County to the late Hollis Sevier Gilmore and Willie Marie Tartt Coley. Mae attended Pine Grove School and was a charter member of Cason Baptist Church. She married the late Herschell Ritter on February 22, 1948. Mae worked in the area garment industry as a seamstress and retired from National Filter Media in Olive Branch. She was a devoted fan of yard sales, reading, and sewing. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and redbirds. In her later years, she was a member of East Amory Baptist Church.
Mae is survived by her son, Buddy Ritter (Sandra), Nettleton; daughter Suzanne Ritter; son in law, Paul Key, Wales, FL; grandchildren, David Neely (Rachael), Columbia, TN; Amanda Bargeron (Joey) Rayford, FL; Jessica Powell (Waylon), Nettleton; Hunter Key; Haley Key, FL; great grandchildren, Adelyn Neely, Adam Norcross, Leah Norcross and Seth Norcross; special friends, Willie Lockett and Bobbie Anderson; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mae is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Katherine Pritchard; great granddaughter, Shelby Powell; brother, Ray Gilmore.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Wesley Stephens officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
