Our dearest mother, Mary Helen Bright, 76, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on May 31, 1945 in Monroe County to Matthew Shelby and Ruby Virginia Laney Monaghan. She graduated from Amory High School and she married Albert Paul Bright. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Barksdale Air Force Base exchange. Mary was a loving and caring wife, mother, and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was also a devoted homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mary was full of charisma and having a sense of humor, she loved to tell a good joke. Kindhearted, she was a true treasure. She loved her dog, Shiloh and she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Bright (Neal) of the Athens Community and Shellie Blair (Mike) of Jefferson Parish, LA; one son, Ronald Bright (Jessica) of Brownsville, TX; two sisters, Linda Presley (Eugene) and Peggy Best (Jim) both of Amory; grandchildren, Christopher Hathcock, Shelby Roberts, Paul Bright, Cecily Bright, Paige Bright, Jamie Blair, and Chase Blair; great grandchildren, Brenley, Bethlyn, Ethan, Christian, Ben, Noah, Isariah, and Madison; special friend, Dale Motes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Paul Bright; one brother, Dewey Monaghan; and her 4 sisters, Joyce Chism, Francis Hester, Patsy Camp, and Carolyn Wiggington.
