Martha Ann Turner, 85, known as Nanny to her grandchildren and Aunt Martha to many others, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center—Pontotoc. She was born in Amory on May 9, 1938 to Howard Wilson and Lena Beatrice Edwards Hall. Growing up in Amory and Becker Bottom, she worked for Penthouse Furniture as a supervisor for over 20 years. She was a true matriarch full of sass who could be brutally and lovingly honest at times. She liked to set up at flea market sales and she enjoyed working in her garden and with her flowers. A talented seamstress who loved to sew, she was also an excellent cook. She and her long-time companion, Claude often went fishing and she loved her dogs, Sammy and Hap. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bobby Cleveland officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
She is survived by her long-time companion, Claude Sexton of Pontotoc; two daughters, Jackie Turner Aldridge (Josh) of Nettleton and Patricia Edwards of Mooreville; brother, Son Hall; two sisters, Brenda Harris of Amory and Mary Lois Spees (Milton) of Smithville; 12 grandchildren, Brandi Cook (Jim), Lori West (Jason), Brandon Hill (Hollye), Dakota Cruber (Elizabeth), Cameron Cruber (Jayla), Morgan Wells (Hayden), Blake Aldridge, Scotty Mixon (Misty), Anthony Mixon, Misty Jordan, Jamie Edwards, and Raven Edwards; great grandchildren, Braxton, Allie, Maddie, Caden, Emily, Kaylie, Alyvia, Riley Rose, Ruby Rae, Skyler, Alexis, and Zach; two great-great grandchildren, Charlee Reed and Collins Rae; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Turner; infant son, Dewane Turner; and daughter, Debbie Vaughan.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Hill, Dakota Cruber, Cameron Cruber, Jason West, Jim Cook, Braxton West, Scotty Mixon, and Skyler Jordan. Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Hall.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
