Malcolm Wright, Jr. was born in Houston, Mississippi, on April 16, 1932. He was the second seven children born to Virginia M. Wilson and Malcolm Wright, Sr.
Both parents preceded him in death. Malcolm accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Mississippi.
On February 25, 1951, Malcolm was united in holy matrimony to Ivy E. Buchanan. They relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where their union blessed them with three children,
Kerthalia, Buford, and Jacqueline. Malcolm became a self-employed owner/operator professional truck driver for over 40 years before he chose retirement in Cedarbluff, Mississippi, where he and Ivy became a members of Hopewell MB Church. Malcolm was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed gardening, supervising his wife’s canning efforts and outdoor cooking activities with friends and relatives.
Malcolm Wright, Jr. departed this life in peace on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the age of 86.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Ivy, his wife of 67 years; three children, Kerthalia Wright Peavely of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Buford Wright of Anchorage, Alaska, and
Jacqueline Wright of Humble, Texas; three sisters, Mary Clark of Chicago, Illinois, Inez (Joseph) Fouch of Africa, Alice (Beauford) Robinson of Spring, Texas, and one brother, Columbus (Ruby) Wright of Queen Creek, Arizona; two grandchildren, Jamal Wright and Kristin Marie Peavely; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were brothers Sid A. Wright and Henry C. Wright.
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Hopewell MB Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Columbus Wright, Jimmy Ford, Bobby Ford, Bob Taylor, Shun Calvert, Harvey Heard, George Rasberry
Repast will be at Hopewell MB Church in Cedarbluff, MS
