Mabel Tackett, 76, died on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Born January 12, 1940, she was a daughter of Stanley C. and Mary Ethel Dye Easley. She was a 1957 graduate of Becker School and she was married to Horace Tackett. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Raper and retired as office clerk for NMMC-Amory Home Care. While her grandsons were growing up, Mabel travelled many miles following their sporting events and she cherished the time spent with them. Her hobbies included yard mowing, working in her flower beds, attending Atlanta Braves baseball games, and she had a special affection for her Chihuahua, Sweet Pea. She was a member of the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Hatley.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Hatley with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatley Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Baughman (Mike) and Kelly Poss (David) both of Amory; three sisters, Betty Shields, Evelyn Stanford and Anne Smith all of Amory; three grandchildren, Chris Baughman (Whitney), Bret Baughman (Patty), and Jon David Poss; and 3 great grandchildren, Aylissa, Lily, and Turner Baughman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Wesley Michael Baughman; two brothers, Edward Easley and Jessie Easley; two sisters, Nellie Faye Cooper and Nettie May Easley; and a special sister-in-law, Martha Easley.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Jackson, David Easley, Mark Gurley, Evan Adams, Rob Smith, Hayden Minich, Alan Easley, Bart Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be NMMC-Amory Home Care and Rickey Moffett.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home and she will lie in repose from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
