Larry Jones

Larry Gene Jones, 71, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore in Amory. Larry was born on January 25 1948 in Monroe County to Sammy Joe and Evelyn Pickle Jones. He grew up in Aberdeen and moved to Chicago in his early teen years where he later owned and operated a restaurant/bar in the Zion and Chicago areas. Moving back to Monroe County he finished up his career as a roofer. He was proud of his El Camino and known for a joke or two, he was a people person and the life of the crowd. A collector of various things, he also enjoyed riding motorcycles and his Harley Davidson. He was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Michael Easter and Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery in Aberdeen. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Jones of Athens, AL and Sherry Jones (Thomas) of Decatur, AL; one son, Billy W. Jones (Holly) of Aberdeen; sisters, Sandra Jones of Bigbee and Sherry Jones of Georgia;3 brothers, Jimmy Dale Jones (Patricia) of Dorsey, Cecil Jones, Jr. (Derhonda) of Aberdeen, and Charles Jones, Sr. (Janice) of Aberdeen; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; special niece and caregiver, Adrianna Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the mother of his children, Shirley Scott of Athens, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Sam Jones; sisters, Dorothy Cogdill, Linda Jones, and Mary Easter. Pallbearers will be Jerry Rasburry, Tyler Gosa, Cody Hacker, Dillon Langford, Christopher Chaney, Billy Jones, Jr., Glenn Reese, Graham Pritchett, and William Hoffman.
