Kirk Gray, 85, died on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his home. Born April 13, 1930 in Becker, he was a son of William Robert and Josphine Derrick Gray. He grew up and attended school in Becker and was married to Emma Ludeen Camp in 1947. Working in the gas business, he retired from Columbus Butane after 45 years. An avid Bible reader, he was a man of great faith and was a member of the Rocky Springs Baptist Church. Known as a generous man, he enjoyed working a garden and giving the majority of it away and he helped anyone in need. He enjoyed watching westerns and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Mac Phillips and Bro. Rodney Waycaster officiating. Burial will be in the Greenbrier Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Emma Ludeen Gray of Amory; one son, Jimmy Dwaine Gray (Angie) of Amory; one daughter, Annette Gray Mitchell (Ellis) of Amory; daughter-in-law, Sonja Gray of Amory; two brothers, Clyde Gray and Edward Gray both of Amory; two sisters, Nellie Camp and Jane Hoots (David) both of Amory; 7 grandchildren, Kerry and Scott Mitchell, Keith and Kevin Gray, Johnny Gray, Tammy Dobbs, and Natalie Clouse; 16 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren; special friends, Roosevelt Garth, Dennis Phillips, Bryson Waddle, and Bro. Mac Phillips; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Billy Joe, Johnny, and Curtis Dwaine Gray; one grandson, Curtis Joe Gray; two brothers, Billie and Joe Gray; and in-laws, Doc and Dessie Camp.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Gray, Gunnar, Garrett, and Gannon Gray, Jonathan Clouse, and John and Josh Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry, Adrian, and Austin Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, Johnny, Keith, and Jennings Gray.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
