Jimmie Lee Morgan, Sr.

Jimmie Lee Morgan, Sr., 89, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Oak Tree Manor in Amory.  Born on October 3, 1932 in Attala County, he was a son to John Kelly and Mable Elizabeth Carroll Morgan.  He grew up in Holmes County and in 1952 he enlisted in the US Air Force where he would serve for 18 years.  On July 25, 1959, he married Shirley McAnally and raised his family.  From the civil service, he retired as an HVAC technician and later owned and operated Morgan’s Heat and Air.  He enjoyed drinking coffee at McDonald’s and gardening.  He liked to watch football and baseball especially Ole Miss and the New York Yankees.  He attended Athens Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Morgan; one son, Jimmie Morgan (Denice) of Becker; two daughters, Cindy Morgan Brister of Smithville and Trellis Haney (Alan) of Wren; grandchildren, Alex Morgan, Hillary Morgan, Gabby Park (Ethan), Katherine Morgan, Shelby Morgan, Ethan Morgan, Wesley Haney (Christi), and Caleb Haney ; great grandchildren, Dominic Morgan, Liza Park, and Laureline Haney; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jerry Cantrell and Bobby Joe Poss.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 9 brothers and sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 3 PM on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Howell Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Joe Poss officiating.  Everyone is asked to meet at 2:50 PM at the cemetery.
