Jerry Gale Walters, 66, passed away on July 3, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Jerry was born on January 8, 1958 in Aberdeen, MS to Fowler McCoy and Olga Coleman Walters. He graduated from Hatley High School in 1977. He married the former Gloria “Sissy” Moore on October 13, 1979. Jerry spent many years working at True Temper. After retiring from True Temper, he opened a gas station in Becker. Jerry was also skilled in construction and woodwork. In recent years, he used wood from the riverbank in the reconstruction of his home.
Jerry spent his entire life on the land that he so affectionately loved. If you couldn’t find Jerry, you could bet he would be somewhere on the Buttahatchie River that ran through his land. He spent many days and nights at the “swimming hole” where he may be fishing, swimming, cooking, or just hanging out. Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved his life in the country.
