Amory

Jerry Wayne Sanderson, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore in Amory.  Jerry was born in Monroe County to Grover Cleveland and Laverne Rye Sanderson.  He graduated Hatley High School and attended Itawamba Junior College earning an associate degree.  On June 27, 1965, he married Grace Green.  He had worked for Bellsouth, Frisco Railroad, and later for Wal-Mart, but Jerry’s passion was antiques.  He owned and operated Rust and Dust Antiques for years. He was a long-time member of the Country Boys Breakfast Club and First Baptist Church of Amory. Quick witted, he was always up for a joke, followed by that “Sanderson cackle”. He was an MSU fan and enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball. Jerry loved his family dearly, especially his grands and great grands.

A graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Haughton Memorial Park with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating.  Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Wayne Sanderson (Belinda) of Amory; two sisters, Elsie Sanderson of Amory and Glenda Daughety of Baton Rouge, LA; two grandchildren, Chelsea Field (James Melton) of Madison and John Harris (Meagan) of Amory; great grandchildren, Emerie and Evie Field, Alex and Aubrey Harris, and Georgia and Wylie Yarbrough; a host of nieces and nephews; and his friends at Country Boys Breakfast Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace Sanderson; brother, Jimmy “Squirrel” Sanderson; and sister, Lois Hughey.

Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m.
