Becker- Jerry Aubury Minor, 77 died Monday, June 6, 2016 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born December 28, 1938 in Cordova, Al to Mosie and Ada Belle Ivy Minor. He grew in in Cordova and graduated from Cordova High School. After graduating he joined the Alabama National Guard and was proud to be able to serve his state and country. Falling in love, he married Shelby Dean Otts on April 12, 1957 and they later moved to Becker. He retired from Vista Chemical with 30 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and was a master gardener. Generous in his giving, he was often found giving his friends and neighbors vegetables from the garden and fish he had caught. As much as he loved the outdoors and working, his true loves in life were his wife, children and grandchildren, that’s where his joy truly came from.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Minor, Becker; daughters, Darlene Reese (Mark), Wren, Deborah Summerford (Roy), Tremont, and Mary Dean Stanley (Ken) of Louisville, TN; sons, Kenneth Minor and Jerry Donald Minor both of Becker; Brother, Wayne Minor (Pat), Cordova, AL; sisters, Joyce Stacks, Jasper, AL and Brenda Morrow (Kirk), Cordova, AL; grandchildren, Sharon Roberts, Erik Welford, Bryan Reese, Blake Reese, Amanda Reese, Dylan Minor and Brandon Minor; great grandchildren, Austin Welford, Zack Welford, Walerie Welford, Justin TJaden, Noah Whalen, Noah Reese, Kensington Reese, Jonah Reese, Madison Brown, Alaina Tyler, Kaylee Tyler, Walter Tyler, Payson Minor and Becky Tyler; special friends, Jack Wertz, Charlie Holcomb, Jimmy Ashley and Jimmy Tate.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Juanita Laye, Judy Boyd, Betty Grace, Tommie Morgan; brother, Hillard Minor.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Waycaster officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Summerford, Ernie Tyler, Bryan Reese, Randy Fielding, Bill Hartley, and Wesley Allen.
Visitation will be Wednesday Evening at the funeral home from 5-8 PM.
