Jeanie Tubb Bowen

Elmer Eugenia Tubb Bowen, 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore in Amory. She was born February 9, 1934, in Monroe County to the late Charles Elmer Tubb and Beckie Ashcraft Tubb. Upon graduating from Aberdeen High School, she married Willie Bowen Jr. in May 1952.

Eugenia “Jeanie” was for most of her life a homemaker. Later, she and Willie owned and operated East Side Bait Shop, Grandpa’s Kitchen, and Plymouth Rock RV Park in Aberdeen.  

She was a strong competitor in games, enjoyed doing puzzles, quilting, gardening, canning, and maintaining her yard with her well used riding lawn mower. Every Thursday for years, she prepared a meal for Wayne Perkins using fresh vegetables from his garden and deer meat provided by him. Jeanie loved pets and adored her last dog, Bouncer.    

Jeanie was a very loving, genuine, and sweet Christian woman devoted to studying her Bible. She was a faithful member of River Bend Baptist Church and stayed connected by watching their service online Sunday mornings when she could no longer physically attend.

She was a reserved person who was deeply involved with her family. Jeanie is survived by her daughter, Patsy Jean Bowen, Aberdeen; sister, Lois Moffett, Aberdeen; grandchildren, Dennis Edward Johnson (Lindsey) of Englewood, FL and Emily Nicole Johnson of San Antonio, TX; great granddaughters, Ariel Jean Johnson, Shanley Marie Rogers, Trinity Arlene Johnson, and Reagan Kailey Rogers; and host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanie is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Irvin Tubb.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, March 13, 2023, at River Bend Baptist Church, with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 PM. Inurnment will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
