New Orleans, LA- Jason Donald Plunkett, 50, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his residence in New Orleans. Born in Amory July 16, 1964 he was a son of Paulette Plunkett Nix and his step dad who loved him as his own son, Dan Nix. His grandparents, Ellis and Beatrice Plunkett also helped to raise him.
A free spirit and never meeting a stranger, Jason loved living in New Orleans where he met and made many friends throughout the years. Having a heart of gold, he would help anyone in need. Family was most important to him and he loved having his sons with him in New Orleans. He enjoyed traveling to Michigan visiting with his brother and sister in law and considered it his second home. Loving to cook, he worked in the food business in New Orleans.
He is survived by his mother, Paulette Plunkett Nix; mother of his children, Bridgette Plunkett Boatner; sons, Justin, Jeremey and Jake Plunkett; brothers, Mark, Clark and Shane Gray; 3 grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends he considered as family in New Orleans.
In addition to his step father and grandparents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Melinda Michelle Hendershack.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory, with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in Gray’s Cemetery. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Thursday Evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
