James Franklin Mills, 57, died on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Born July 6, 1959 in Waukegan, IL, he was a son of Hubert Mills and Janie Faulkner Guyton. He later moved to Aberdeen and married the former Betty Owen. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Seminole Furniture and later in the bentonite mines in Aberdeen. He attended Hatley Schools and was of the Baptist Faith. A man that couldn’t stay inside, he thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. Gifted with his hands, he was known as a master craftsman and could build anything. A family man, he cherished the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Mills will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in the Blaylock Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mills of Aberdeen; his mother, Janie Guyton of Aberdeen; 4 sons, Joey Mills (Lori) of Hatley, Matt Mills of Aberdeen, Jamie Mills (Courtney) of Aberdeen, and Josh Mills of Aberdeen; one brother, Mike Mills (Lisa) of Hatley; 3 sisters, Sibyl Whitworth (Clayton) of Hamilton, Shea Guyton of Aberdeen, and Christina Farrar (Kevin) of Amory; 8 grandchildren, Colby and Chloe Mills, Madison Parker and Easton Mills, Aliyah, Abbigail, and Austyn Mills, and Ella Mills; brothers-in-law, Tony Owens (Stacy) of Bartlett, TN and Mark Jones (Pat) of Aberdeen; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ora Guyton; and grandfather, William Mills.
Pallbearers will be Joey Mills, Matt Mills, Jamie Mills, Josh Mills, Tony Owens, and Jason Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Holloway and Mark Jones.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
