Jack Edward Platz, 96, passed away on Tuesday December 10, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born on July 5, 1928 in Fairview, PA, he was one of the seventeen children of Earl and Ethel Platz and the last surviving member of his family. Jack lived in St. Joseph, MO with his wife, Patricia Mortimor Platz. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with True Temper Sports, first, in Lake City, PA, then Amory, MS, and finally plant manager in Kansas City, MO with a total of 48 years with the company. He grew up in and around Girard, PA and attended Union High School. There he met and married the late Mary Louise West with whom he had five children. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed all sports. Even just months before his death, he was very active, always planting a garden and he loved being with his family.
A graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Haughton Memorial Park in Amory with Rev. Jim McClurkin officiating. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Platz; two sons, Thomas Edward Platz and John Charles Platz (Renee); three daughters, Suzanne Grissom (Butch), Patricia Mae Crotwell (Steve), and JoAnn Louise Cavanah (Deriek); three stepdaughters, Teresa Cross (Mike), Terri Jennings (Ray), Renee Mortimor; 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
