Iris Nell “Boots” Weaver, 84, died on Monday, June 6, 2016 at her home. Born the youngest of 10 children, she was a daughter to Grover Cleveland and Alma Goodson Waycaster. A graduate of Hatley High School, she married Wayne Hansel Weaver on August 27, 1948; he died on October 25, 1984. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a purchasing agent for the Blue Bell Company and she was faithful member of the Amory Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. She was known throughout her family for her sourdough bread otherwise referred to by her grandchildren as “granny bread.” For her final wishes, she requested that her body be used for the advancement of medicine through the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
A memorial service honoring her life will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Amory Church of Christ with Philip Hathcock and Wayne Howell officiating. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Cleveland Wayne Weaver of Gordo, Ala. and Troy Wade Weaver (Angie) of Hatley; one sister, Doris Brasfield of Aberdeen; sister-in-law, Betty Waycaster of Pontotoc; 6 grandchildren, Sunny Lea Resmondo, Benjamin Farrar Weaver, Dixie Weaver Mordecai, Sarah Katherine Weaver; Hayden Seth Weaver, and Sawyer Weaver; 7 great grandchildren, Jennifer Weaver, Charlie Weaver, Brandon Gillespie, Cole Gillespie, Madyson Mordecai, Harlee Coleman, and Mason Mordecai; and special friends, Wayne and Judy Howell, Teresa Vaughan, Shirley Davis, Libble Boock, Kittie Edwards, and Jimmy Vaughan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers and sisters, Leroy Waycaster, Clinton Waycaster, Annie Easter, Sybil Williams, Ralph Cecil, Mary Gladdis Waycaster, Harold Waycaster, and Hansel Waycaster.
Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Coleman, Lance Mordecai, Seth Weaver, Sawyer Weaver, Brandon Gillespie, and Cole Gillespie.
