Bartahatchie Community--Ima Lee Nix, 84, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Care Center of Aberdeen. Born on August 22, 1933 in Monroe County, she was a daughter to John Cleve and Lillie Bell Smith Nix. She grew up in the Bartahatchie Community and attended Bartahatchie School. Prior to her retirement, she worked the family farm and she also worked for Glenn Manufacturing for many years. Her hobbies included shopping, cooking, and baking. She was often seen cooking for others during times of bereavement. Mrs. Nix was very community oriented and would often ride the roads keeping up with people in the community always knowing what was going on.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nix will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Phillip Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, John Lucian “J.L” Nix (Shirley) of the Bartahatchie Community; nieces, Linda Kissel (Leslie) of Hamilton, Joyce McCaine of Greenwood Springs, Betty Murphy of Sulligent, AL, Brenda Hamric (Leslie) of Guntown; 3 great nieces; 4 great nephews; 4 great-great nieces; and 3 great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Laverne Nix; and one nephew, John Allen Nix.
Pallbearers will be James McCaine, Leslie Kissel, Dustin Carter, Steven Morris, Hunter McCaine, Collin Hamric, Keith Box, and John Murphy.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
