H.W. Capps, 67, died on Friday, December 29, 2017 at his residence in Smithville. Born on January 24, 1950 he was a son to Hazel and Ida Humbers Capps. He was a graduate of Hatley High School in 1970 and by draft entered the U.S. Army. Prior to his discharge in 1972, he served in German as a specialist IV. Returning home, he worked for the Amory Garment Company for nearly 40 years. Always full of life, H.W. took great pride in making others smile. He was an avid Ole Miss Football fan. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include 3 brothers, William “Rodney” Capps of Smithville, James Capps (Earlene) of Hatley; and Wayne Capps (Debbie) of Ocean Springs, MS; one sister, Brenda Salinas of Lockhart, TX; 12 nieces and nephews; 32 great nieces and nephews; 19 great great nieces and nephews; and 1 great great great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Jerry Capps; sister, Shirley Tucker; nephew, Matthew Capps; and niece, Wanda Capps.
Pallbearers will be Jason Flippo, Logan Flippo, Cole Flippo, Peter Lee, Landon Williams, and John Welch. Honorary pallbearer will be John Tucker.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
