Hubert Price Howard, 80, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at his home in Hatley. He was born on October 15, 1941, in Monroe County to Mark and Ida Frederick Howard. Hubert was a 1959 graduate of Hatley High School, and he married Nellie Holloway in 1966. Prior to his retirement, he worked at True Temper Sports for 33 years and he was an avid MSU fan. Hubert loved to talk and visit with friends especially at the coffee shops. For over 30 years he was the voice of the Hatley Tiger Football announcing the games on Friday nights. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping, and traveling to the Smoky Mountains.
A private family graveside service will be on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Hatley Cemetery with Bobby Cleveland officiating. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Nellie Howard; he is survived by his son, Rick Howard (Laura) of Hatley; granddaughter, Haley Howard of Hatley; great granddaughter, Lancey Cockerham of Hatley; two brothers, Roger Howard of Tennessee and Reed Howard (Kay) of Una; nieces, Patricia Guess and Kim McElhenney; nephew, Scott Howard; and his beloved animals, Lady and Eddie.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Irvin and sister, Mary Bagley.
Visitation for the public will be from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
