Hilda Geraldine Harmon Minga, 93, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Oak Tree Manor in Amory. Born on October 8, 1924 in Sulligent, Alabama, she was a daughter of Verdo and Getta Mae Harmon. She was a graduate of Amory High School and married Aubrey Minga in the spring of 1944. Shortly after her marriage, Mr. Minga left for the European Theatre during WWII while Hilda remained a devoted wife until his return. As a devoted wife, she worked while Mr. Minga went to college all the while raising their son. Later she worked as a hairdresser. As a best friend and companion she and her husband enjoyed traveling after retirement camping and visiting in all the lower 48 states. As a hobbie, she enjoyed hunting minerals and stones. She was known as a talented painter and an expert at crochet. As a woman of faith, she was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church since 1985 and she was a member of the Ladies Organization. Mrs. Hilda always enjoyed the company of others.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home chapel in Amory with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Interment will be in the Crenshaw Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of over 74 years, Aubrey Minga of Amory; one son, Dennis Minga of Amory; sister-in-law, Perry Parrish of Augusta, GA; two grandchildren, Jarred Wesley Minga and Ashley Farr; and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Christine Candel, great granddaughter, Hailey and a brother-in-law, Ray Minga.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
