Hazel Jean Ausborn Glasscock

June 22, 1930 — March 26, 2024

Ponca City, Oklahoma

Hazel Jean Ausborn Glasscock, 93, passed away on March 26, 2024 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.  Jean was born on June 22, 1930 in Monroe County to the late Trannie and Lila Thornton Ausborn.  She was a graduate of Hatley High School where she played on the girls basketball team.  Soon after graduation, she married Earnest “Doc” Stanford.  They were married for 40 years and had two children, Mike and Jan. During their marriage, they made several moves and ultimately ended up in Ponca City, Oklahoma which was her home for the last 60 years where she was active in the community.  She worked several years as a medical clinic receptionist.  It was in the early 90’s when Jean married Dr. Tom Glasscock, a local physician in Ponca City.  Together, she and Dr. Glasscock enjoyed traveling and spending time at the country club.  Jean also loved being outdoors, gardening and spending time with her garden club.  Anytime Jean was ever seen out and about, she was perfectly put together and took great pride in her appearance and how she presented herself.  She was deeply devoted to her family and inspired them to excel.  She was determined to see her children and grandchildren do well in life. Jean was a faithful Christian who humbly and dutifully served the Lord.  In her younger years, she was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ in Hatley.  She considered Hartford Avenue Church of Christ in Ponca City her home and loved to worship with the congregation there.  The scripture teaches us that hope is the anchor of the soul, Jean absolutely lived her life with hope, even in the darkest of days.  She loved Monroe County and was looking forward to an upcoming trip to MS to visit with her family and relive fond memories of her early years.

Jean is survived by her son, Mike Stanford and his wife, Susan of Tulsa, OK; their children, Chad Stanford (Dore’), Jeremy Stanford (Becky) and Sarah Freed (Jason); Jean is also survived by her daughter, Jan Stanford Beller and her husband, David of Lee’s Summitt, MO; their children, Julie Bowman (Donnie) and Blaine Beller (Tara); Jean’s beloved great grandchildren, Camden, Dawson, Charlie, Brooks, Adelyn, Emmalyn, Kylie, Lila, Jesse and Lily; her great great granddaughter, Olivia; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Tom Glasscock; siblings, Coy Ausborn, Loy West, Grace Carter and Jewel Graves.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at New Hope Cemetery with Minister Bobby Cleveland officiating.  Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory is entrusted with the services for Jean.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Christian Chapel Church of Christ, 60127 Vaughn Rd, Amory, MS 38821.
