Harold Gene Cagle, 84, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore in Amory. He was born on September 1, 1937 and he was the son of Lola Mae Morris Dowdy. He married Mary Jean Jackson on October 13, 1956. He lived most of his life in Aberdeen and was a fireman for over 30 years for the City of Aberdeen. On his days off, he enjoyed mechanic work and became well known as an expert Volkswagen mechanic and shared his knowledge with Volkswagen owners in the area. A devoted husband and father, he always helped with whatever was needed. His hobbies included working jigsaw puzzles, reading, and bird watching. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Robert Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatley Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Richard Cagle (Melinda) of Amory; one daughter, Wanda Gaye Guin (Neal) of Hatley; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Minga (Nathan), Chris Cagle, Andrew Cagle, Leslie Harrington (Jon), and Carlie Stanford (Tyler); 5 great grandchildren, Taylor Ritter, Chase Ritter, Hayden Cagle, Tyler-Clay Stanford, and Mary-Ella Stanford; daughter-in-law, Lisa Cagle; special friends, Joyce Gosa of Hamilton and Robert and Hilda Dungan of Lucedale.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Mae Dowdy, wife, Mary Jean Cagle, and son, Harold Lynn Cagle.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Cagle, Chris Cagle, John Herrington, Tyler Stanford, Nathan Minga, and James McCaine.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
