Amory- Glenda Carolyn Plaxico, 69 died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at NMMC in Tupelo. Born in Aberdeen on June 24, 1947, she was a daughter of Lesley Mathies and Mary Harris Mathies. Glenda grew up in the Parham Community and attended Hatley School. Before retiring as a homemaker she worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry. Talented with her hands, she enjoyed arts and crafts, especially painting, watching movies, doing wordbooks and sitting outdoors listening to the windchimes. A member of the Church of Christ, she loved her Lord and enjoyed time spent with family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, James “Benji” Powell (Becky), Aberdeen; sister, Vicki Threadgill (Luther), Gattman; sister in law, Neomi Mathies, Amory; grandchildren, Shae Davis (Clayton), Matthew Powell and Brandon Neal; great grandson, Brayden Powell.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Bobby Wayne Plaxico II; daughter, Lisa A. Neal; brothers, Bobby and Roger Dale Mathies.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Friday, August 5, 2016 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Minister Marshall Eubanks, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Harris, Matthew Powell, Bobby Plaxico and Jimmy Neal.
Visitation will be Thursday Evening at the funeral home from 5-8 PM.
