Glen DeVall

Glen Allan DeVall, 93, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.   Born on December 22, 1929 in Smithville, he was a son to Claude and Azlee Phillips DeVall.  Glen had worked for Glenn Manufacturing and Red Kap as plant manager prior to retiring.  Not one to sit down, he went back to work for the Monroe County Road Department where he worked until 2009.  Glen worked well into his eighties and still operated his farm and worked his cattle.  He was an avid gardener and a member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.  For 50 years he was a member of the Smithville Masonic Lodge and he was also on the board of the Gaines Trace Water Association.  He enjoyed hunting and being with his family.

A graveside service with Masonic Rites will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Hatley Cemetery with Bro. John Johnson officiating.  Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Pierce (Roger) of Smithville; two grandchildren, Kim Woods (Spencer) and Shane Pierce (Mandy); 3 great grandchildren, Bryan Pierce (Rebecca), Belle Pierce, and Lara Grace Woods (Johnson Leeth); 5 great great grandchildren, Christin Malone, Peighton Berry, Colton Malone, Thomas Lindsey, and Brantley Hamm; and 2 great great great grandchildren, Ellis Parker Malone and Hazel Claire Berry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Nell Faulkner DeVall and a great grandchild, Morgan Layne Pierce.

Pallbearers will be Robert Vaughn, Chas Marshall, Neal Sargent, Johnson Leeth, Colton Malone, and Bryan Pierce.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Gaines Trace Water Association; the Monroe County Road Department; Brantley Hamm; and Spencer Woods.

Visitation will be from 11:30 until 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
