Eddie Moffett

August 10, 1957 — March 19, 2018

Eddie Wayne Moffett, 60, passed away March 19, 2018 at his residence in the Athens Community. Born August 10, 1957 in Aberdeen, he was the son of Edward Ray and Etta Vann Moffett, the oldest of their 3 children. Eddie attended Hatley High School and married Dorothy Holloway. A man of many talents, Eddie helped his family in the fields, worked on oil rigs and chemical plants in his earlier years. Later in life, he owned, operated and drove trailer trucks, along with his father, hauling asphalt where he was known by many truckers as “Little Bit.” A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved being with his family, teaching and showing them the love of God and spoiling his precious grandchildren. Serving Christ was his passion and calling in life, Eddie served as the pastor of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Greenwood Springs and exemplified the love of Christ to many. Humorous to say the least, he was often found spreading laughter and brightening someone’s day. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dorothy Moffett; daughters, Tarah Jones (Justin), Athens and Victoria Head (Josh), Amory; grandchildren, Tristian, Caiden and Logan Jones and Alyvia Head; sisters, Tammy Lyle (Ricky), Athens and Linda Bell (Don), Vernon; his mother and stepfather, Etta and Doug Saget, Athens along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Niki Moffett, his dad, Edward Moffett, grandparents, Charlie and Willie Lee Moffett, Webb and Margie Cantrell Vann. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Jones and Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery.
