Earnest Thomas Knight, 74, passed from this life on March 30, 2024 at Lawrence Medical Center in Moulton, AL following a sudden illness. He was born on February 8, 1950 in Monroe County to Elijah Thomas and Ovie Mae Lewis Knight. Earnest dutifully served his country in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He married the former Marsha Jackson on April 30, 2005 and prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver for WEJ Trucking out of Gattman. He was a fan of all Ole Miss sports and a great conversationalist. In addition, he also enjoyed watching car races.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Hegg officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Memorial Gardens.
In addition to his wife, Marsha Knight, he is survived by his son, Jason Knight (Tracy) of Smithville; three daughters, Heather Kennedy (Marty) of Amory, Stacey Swindle (Jimmy) of Horn Lake, and Margot Hegg of Seneca, SC; sisters, Martha Fowlkes (Robert Earl), Mavis Towery, Margaret Hall, Melissa Terry, Lynn Capps (Earl); brother-in-law, Robert Vaughan; grandchildren, Neil and Blane Knight, Dylan, Montana, and Evan Parker, Alyssa and Zoey Swindle, and Hannah Hegg; 9 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and good friend, James Files.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Vaughan; one brother, Etness Knight; and grandson, James Swindle.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Parker, Evan Parker, Neil Knight, Blane Knight, James Files, and Bruce Benton.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from noon until the service hour.
