Colie Dwight Hathcock, 73, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 at his home. Dwight was born on January 7, 1952 in Monroe County to Napoleon and Mary Green Frederick Hathcock. He was a 1970 graduate of Hatley High School and owned and operated the Smithville Café across from the school for many years. He formerly worked at Atlas Bodies in Wren until their closure and then went on to work at NauticStar Boats in Amory. On February 25, 1995, he married Sibil Murphy and was a devoted husband for 30 years. He enjoyed Mississippi State football and in his younger years, hunting. Dwight liked to read western novels, anything pertaining to history, and watching movies. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He attended the Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.
In addition to his wife of 30 years, Sibil, he is survived by one son, Phillip Hathcock, Smithville; his sister, Melissa Miller (Bronson), Amory; two grandchildren, Courtney Page Harper and Gregory Allen Coker; 4 great grandchildren, Hayden Harper, Aliyah Greathouse, Amaya Greathouse, and Major Greathouse, and Logan, Connor, and Bella Coker; aunts and uncles, Doris Irvin, Gary Frederick, and Lynn Horn; and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Hathcock and Dwayne Hathcock.
Pallbearers will be Randy Hathcock, Andy Hathcock, Keith Hathcock, Terry Cagle, Brad Spann, and Bronson Miller.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
