Dennis Michael Barnette, 67, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his home in Nettleton. Dennis was born on February 24, 1951 in Amory to James Edgar and Josephine Weaver Barnette. He was a graduate of Amory High School and after joining the U.S. Army, he honorably served until 1988. He was stationed in Panama and he also served in the aviation battalion as a CWO helicopter pilot for the Mississippi National Guard. Having a love for flying, Dennis flew both heli and fixed wing aircraft as a civilian for many years, worked for WAMY Radio in high school, as an engineer for the Mississippian Railway and later retired from Lann Chemical. Dennis was known as a jack of all trades, but his passions were model railroads, trains, and anything to do with aviation, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and there was nothing he liked better than to eat a fish plate and watch RFD television. He married Lane Norris on June 26, 1987 and he was a member of the Jones Chapel Baptist Church.
