James David White, Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore in Amory. He was born on August 15, 1944 in Vernon, AL to James David, Sr. and Carrie Frye White. For many years, he worked for Cramco and prior to his retirement he worked at Amory Garment. David was known for his contagious smile and his hugs. With his personality, he never met a stranger, and he was generally appreciative in all things. He married the former Lydia Moon on October 14, 1994 and loved to fish and ride the roads with his dog, "Wart." He worked as a roofer for a number of years and loved to watch Alabama football.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes and Bro. Justin Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatley Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Lydia White, he is survived by two sons, Anthony White (Angie) of Amory and Robbie Ausbon (Mechelle) of Hatley; two daughters, Angie Thompson (Mark) of Smithville and Della Stocks (Jeff) of Goldsboro, NC; one brother, Norman White “Buddy” of Vernon, AL; grandchildren, Trey Thompson (Cally), Brady Thompson (Lakyn), Ty White, Eli White, Lexi Whte, Robert Ausbon, Olivia Grace Ausbon, Brittney Ausbon, and Lauren Stocks Rouse (Brandon), Taylor Stocks (Katelyn) and Hannah Stocks; great grandchildren, Aubrie and Branch Thompson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson, Mickey Ausbon; brothers, Thurmon, Ernest, and Ike White; and sisters, Mary Lee NcNeese, Lucille Aldridge, and Virginia Weldon.
Pallbearers will be Billy Manley, Wade Morris, Ty White, Eli White, Trey Thompson, Brady Thompson, Robert Ausbon, and Rickey Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Reeves, Cliff Tubbs, Rickey Chaney, Pat Jorda and Greg Jorda.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time for the service.
