Amory- Surrounded by his family, David Wayne Tidwell was called home by his Savior on Thursday, June 28, 2018 after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. David was born on August 22, 1958 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Malcolm David and Shirley Dunevant Tidwell. Moving from Greenwood, MS to Amory in 1969, he graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1976. David pursued and obtained his General Contractors License in the early 1980’s. He, along with his father founded, owned and operated Tidwell Contractors, a business that they both watched grow and prosper that still continues to this day. He and his father shared a close bond of working together every day for over 30 years. With a savvy sense of business, he also owned Tidwell Enterprises and W and M Investments. A true outdoorsman, David found much delight in traveling to several different states big game hunting, fishing, especially deep sea fishing and simply observing God’s creations. He was also an accomplished golfer, winning several tournaments in his lifetime. On June 28, 2012, it would seem as if history were repeating itself as David rekindled the relationship with the love of his life, Elizabeth Holloway. They were married March 16, 2013 and made a lifetime of memories. He and Liz, along with their children and grandchildren cherished their times together traveling, vacationing at the beach or just sitting around the table. Out of all his life’s accomplishments, it was his relationship, service and dedication to God that guided his life and gave him strength as he endured his battle with cancer. David was a founding member and longtime board member of Cornerstone Family Fellowship Church in Amory. David graciously shared the gifts God blessed with him. He gave generously and was quick to help others, but never wanted recognition for himself and always gave the glory and honor to God. Through his big smile, kind words, and helping hand, it is evident that he made a lasting legacy and impact on others that will reach far beyond his short time on earth.
