Danny Michael Stanford, “Big $ Dan,” 57, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at his home in Smithville. He was born on June 21, 1965 in Amory to James Radden and Gladys Marie Seales Stanford. Danny graduated from Smithville High School and attended Itawamba Junior College. He worked in maintenance at Cooper Tire and then at Yokahama before retiring. He enjoyed working the farm and had Big Dan’s Small Engines. He married Pam York in 2013. Others were drawn to him through is outgoing personality and always offered a hug. Danny loved playing music and looked forward getting together with other musicians to play. He attended New Bethel Methodist Church and he loved the Lord with all his heart.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Clifton and Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Memorial Gardens.
In addition to his wife, Pam Stanford, he is survived by one daughter, Angela Stanford Raper (Dennis) of Red Bay, AL; step children, Patrick Dabbs, Dylan Dabbs, and Samantha Dabbs; one brother, William Mark Stanford (Wanda) of Smithville; 4 sisters, Marsha Leathers (Gary) of Fulton, Martha Lucas (Buddy) of Hamilton, AL, Pam Stanford (Gregg) of Sulligent, and Jan Trimm (Paul) of Columbus; three grandchildren, Tristan McGee, Mollyanna Ruple, and August Ryder Stanford; a host of nieces; and friends too numerous to count.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Stanford; grandparents, Robert Marion (Teet) and Betty Stanford and Andrew and Vera Nell Seales; his first wife and unborn child, Penny Dabbs Stanford; and his life-long friend, Chris Stephenson.
Pallbearers will be Mark Morrow, Joe Murphy, Bob Stegall, Scott Seales, Patrick Dabbs, and Blake Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Gregg Stanford, James Barnes, Mike Cantrell, Terry Cagle, Mike Oakes, Paul Trimm, Gary Pearce, Gary Leathers, Buddy Lucas, and Dennis Raper.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
