Curtis Raymond Hall, 89, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on February 8, 1930 in Union County to Raymond and Gertrude Roaten Hall. Curtis was a graduate of New Albany High School and Wood Jr. College and was married to the former Ernestine Hodges in 1952. Stationed in San Antonio, TX, he honorably served in the U.S. Army near the end of the Korean Conflict. For over 40 years, he worked for Dura Container in Fulton later retiring after moving the company to Louisville, KY. He, along with his wife, was very active in his community including working with 4H, The Gathering in Carolina, and with the Carolina RCDC. He was a faithful and devoted member of Carolina United Methodist Church serving in various capacities as a lay leader, Sunday school teacher, and the Men’s Club. As an expert woodworker, he spent many hours in his shop along with his wife building anything that would come to mind. Among his other hobbies, gardening was one of his favorites. Curtis was true gentleman who never met a stranger and would welcome anyone into his home to visit. He deeply loved his family, and his caring heart for others and the community was unsurpassed.
Funeral service for Mr. Hall will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Carolina United Methodist Church with Bro. Danny Wilburn and Bro. Joey Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Carolina Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sue Walton (Jerry) of Ballardsville and Patti Powell (David) of Carolina; son, Gary Hall (Shirley) of Carolina; grandchildren, Brent Hall, Amanda Wright (David), Misty Daniels (Michael), Dusty Walton (Lishal), Heather Payne (Joey), and Tammy West; great grandchildren, Chase and Madison Wright, Olivia Tucker, Levi Garrett, Alex, Nathaniel, Jonathan, and Sara Daniels, AC and Roxy Ryan, Mazy Walton, Skyler Mallette, Lane Payne, Chris McMillan, Tyler Powell, and David West; and caregiver, Sharon Gasaway.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ernestine Hall; and brothers, Marvin and Arnold Grubbs.
Pallbearers will be Brent Hall, Levi Garrett, Chase Wright, Dale Mills, David Wright, Michael Daniels, Skylar Mallette, and Dusty Walton.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Friday at the church.
