Cora Lee Rogers

January 18, 1921 — August 7, 2016

Cora Lee Herndon Sullivan Rogers, 95, died on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Golden Living Nursing Center in Amory. Born January 18, 1921 in Monroe County, she was a daughter of John Clovis and Pernie Lodell Little Herndon. She married John Junior Sullivan and later Joel Rogers, both of whom preceded her in death. A charter member of the Amory Church of Christ, she took active roles of service and she exhibited qualities as a true Southern lady. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for Glenn Manufacturing and later for Cutcliff Drug. Her hobbies included working in the yard. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Amory Church of Christ with Ministers Philip Hathcock and James Wyers officiating. Burial will be in the Amory Historical Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Sullivan (Judy) of Hazlegreen, AL and Phil Sullivan (Thresha) of Amory; one daughter, Sylvia Mattison (Dr. William) of Amory; 7 grandchildren, Andy Sullivan (Angel), John Sullivan (Amber), Melinda Blackthorn (Tiffany), Kelly Sullivan (Erin), Jennie Luker (Ray), Brian Sullivan (Chondelle), and Gena Glenn (Malcolm); 14 great grandchildren, Drew Sullivan, Trey Sullivan, Reagan Sullivan, Owen Sullivan, Emma Sullivan, Ally Sullivan, James Sundstrom, Dakota Sundstrom, Maddie Luker, Luke Sullivan, Nora Sullivan, Silas Sullivan, Mattison Glenn, and Maggie Glenn; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; 6 sisters, Ruby Vaughan, Lowell Crawford, Wilma Parham, Faye Ausbon, and Joy Sanders; 2 brothers, J.C. Herndon and Ernest Herndon; and a special friend, Walter Maxwell. Pallbearers will be James Sundstrom, Dakota Sundstrom, Ray Luker, Malcolm Glenn, Andy Sullivan, Drew Sullivan, Kelly Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, and Reagan Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Sullivan, Silas Sullivan, Mattison Glenn, John Sullivan, Trey Sullivan, and Owen Sullivan. Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the church.
