Chris Christian

March 16, 1970 — February 10, 2023

Amory

Christopher Hermon Christian, 52, passed away at his residence on Friday, February 10, 2023.  He was born in Amory to Hermon and Laura Marshall Christian.  Chris was a 1989 graduate of Hatley High School.  He married Melinda Tucker on October 6, 1990.  From a small child, Chris loved the land and began helping Hermon farm and run cows.  Chris was driving farm trucks and tractors way before most kids his age was even learning to drive.  He worked a few public jobs while also doing dirt work on the side.  He eventually left Mueller Brass and started C and C Construction full time.  There were 3 things that made C and C successful which were God’s blessings, Chris’s heart and passion for people and the fact that he was the best equipment operator around and could almost make water run uphill!  He worked across North Mississippi and North Alabama hauling hundreds of thousands of yards of material, building roads, pads, lakes and clearing thousands of acres during his lifetime.  To say Chris loved what he did and loved his old white international, D5 dozer and new 320 excavator was and understatement.  He was blessed to have his brother, Tyler, working right alongside of him in the business and on the farm.  Chris  enjoyed having cows, farming and putting up hay.  He loved a good ride on the farm one of his horses and went on many trail rides at different places.  He also loved camping, watching westerns and ATV riding.

Everyone who knew Chris would immediately pick up on the fact that he loved people and had a servant’s heart.  Chris was the walking and talking epitome of the Biblical definition of humility.  He would probably disagree with the statement that he was a good man, but in all truth he was.  Psalm 37:23 says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delights in his way.  Chris loved serving God and never looked at his service to the Lord as a burdensome task.  He truly loved his neighbor as himself and would help anyone do anything.  This was only possible by the relationship that he had with Jesus Christ.  Chris absolutely let Christ’s love shine through his life.  He faithfully served as a Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church.  The apostle Paul said that to be absent from the body is to be present with Lord and we are confident and sure that Chris has heard the Master say, Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter in to the joy or thy Lord.

Of everything that he did from his business to helping others to all his hobbies, his greatest times ever on earth were times spent with his family.  Whether it was family vacations, teaching his children to drive a truck or tractor or ride a horse, cheering them on from the sidelines at one of their games, a good meal surrounded by family, or just a simple ride to church, those were his best times and most priceless possessions.  He absolutely adored his grandchildren and was the best paw paw to them.  Chris and Melinda determined themselves to raise their children in a Godly home, and that’s exactly what they did.  To Chris, Melinda was far above rubies and his children a heritage from the Lord.

Chris is survived by his best friend and wife of nearly 33 years, Melinda Tucker Christian; his dear mother, Laura Francis Fisher and her husband Bill; his greatest possessions, his children; Chelsea Nichole Christian Lochridge (Nick), Victoria Kaitlyn Christian Davis (Kyle), Christopher Ryan Christian and Dylan Marshall Christian; adored grandchildren, Addalyn Reese Lochridge and Kenzie Brooke Davis; mother in love, Joyce McShane; brothers, Thomas Tyler Christian (Shelly) and Matthew Marshall Christian; aunts, Barbara Christian and Linda Butler; uncles, Hershel Christian (Terry) and Charles Marshall (Karen); nieces and nephews, Cason Cox (Samantha), Caitlin Edgill, Caleb Garrett Cox (Halle) and Zoie Christian; great nephews, Kholten and Jayden Cox; great niece, Molly Rose Cox; special friend and neighbor, Ricky Chaney (Suzy); a host of cousins and friends.
