Clemon Byron “C.B.” Patten, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at his home. He was born on April 30, 1943 in Tupelo to C.C. and Mary Patten. From humble beginnings, C.B. learned the value of hard work, dedication, and servitude. These attributes led him to enlist in the U.S. Army immediately following high school graduation he honorably and proudly served for nearly three years where he was trained as a telecommunications specialist. Following an honorable discharge, his training allowed him to secure employment with Bellsouth where he became an expert in his field, and he climbed telephone poles for 33 years before his retirement. C.B. enjoyed woodworking and fishing with his grandchildren. He took great pride in everything that he did, could fix anything, and loved yard work. Before his health declined, he and his wife enjoyed attending Meadowood Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd Sweat officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Scales Patten of Amory; sons, Scott Patten (Diana), Chris Walden, and Howard Walden; daughters, Laura Hernandez of San Antonio, TX and Lezlie Walden; sister, Mary Sue Jones of Booneville; grandchildren, Scott Patten, Zackery Patten, Elizabeth Patten, Sierra Hidalgo, Brianna Hernandez, Cheyenne Hernandez, Joshua Simpson, Sarah Simpson, Olivia Walden, Zachary O’Callahan, Hannah Prezioso and Drew Prezioso; and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Patten, and Donald Patten; and sisters, Maxine Henderson, Corrine Roberts, and Bernice Smallwood.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Thursday from noon until the service hour.
