Carolyn Fay Ayers Sawyer, 62, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at her home. Born on October 16, 1956 in Aberdeen, she was a daughter to Oliver and Lola Bernice Southern Ayers. Growing up in Aberdeen, she was a graduate of Aberdeen High School. A devout mother and grandmother, Carolyn was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and catering. She could plan just about any event and outside the home, she worked for Ability Works as a personal care assistant. Known as Mama Carolyn to many, she was instrument in raising a number of children as a foster parent through New Beginnings. She will be remembered as a great mentor that taught her grandchildren to help those who are in need. She was a faithful member of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Charles Petty and Mr. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Sawyer of Greenwood Springs; her father, Oliver Ayers of Double Springs, AL; two sons, Stephen Sawyer (Daphne) of Amory and Samuel Sawyer (Kristina) of Smithville; one daughter, Stephanie Sawyer of Greenwood Springs; one brother, Edward Ayers (Martha) of Winfield; two sisters, Lola Baird (Bob) of Oneonta, AL and Freda Hollis of Montgomery; 8 grandchildren, Kyra Holland, Preston Sawyer, Adam Sawyer, MacKenzie Snyder, Savannah Sawyer, Emma Sawyer, Audrey Sawyer, and Wyatt Sawyer; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and may children she raised as her own.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Bernice Ayers.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Hall, Richard Petty, Terry Noe, Lyler Ligon, Frank Shelton, Aaron Petty, Keith Sawyer, and Michael Hunt.
Visitation will be on Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
